I was feeling a little guilty that I haven’t been dedicating as much time to my blog as I would like recently, mainly because I haven’t had a lot of time to play any games therefore not giving me much to blog about, this is due to a recent job change, moving house, an exam… Lots of different things that all seem to be coming to a head in June and July. I’ve been reading through the wonderful The Shameful Narcissists’ video game challenge, and I’ve seen it dotted around some other gamer blogs too, so considering my current lack of inspiration and time I thought I’d give it a go!
Day 1 – Your First Video Game
I am not 100% sure what my very first video game was but if I had to guess then I would say it was Pokémon Yellow as it’s the first one I remember playing. It came out when I was 5 so the timescale lines up. I had a Gameboy Color that matched the Pokémon Yellow cartridge and I still have them both! While the game very occasionally freezes now, and I have to take out the cartridge and blow on it they both still work! Not bad for 18 years old.
I never finished Pokémon Yellow, maybe it’s time for a new game?

Dragon's Tea Party 
First game I owned was Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. Can’t remember what the first game I ever played was. Some arcade game or some Atari game at my cousin’s house.

Weirdly I never got into Mario that much until the later games came out. I did try them recently but I am terrible at platformers!

It’s really hard to determine what my first game was being so long ago. The earliest I remember playing was Galaxian on my dad’s BBC but there could have been others before that. Pokemon is a hell of a good series to start a gaming lifetime on!

It’s a difficult question really. I suppose the best you can do is an educated guess. Pokemon was definitely a great place to start, I loved the TV show when I was younger as well, I was a huge fan. Still a fan! Getting a bit overwhelmed by how many there are though now!
Was galaxian an arcade game? Must admit to a bit of a gap in my skills with arcade games.

It was an arcade game originally I believe. The one I played was on a game set called Play it Again Sam. The only other one I remember had a duck in it but I forget its name.

Pokémon Yellow was my first handheld game! I loved it and I still have my working copy of it 🙂 My very first game was the running Taz-mania game on the SNES when I was 5 (not to be confused with the Taz-mania for the Sega Genesis, which was a 2D platformer).

Definitely played Pokemon Yellow! I think my first game was on the normal GameBoy, so probably Tetris or something like that?

I had Tetris as well! That was so much fun but music always used to stress me out when it got fast as the tower got higher!

It is interesting to try and estimate how old everyone is! Age doesn’t matter though of course in Dragon years, especially tea party throwing ones

I always assumed dragons were much more long lived than we mere humans, though I’m technically an angel in hiding :p
